Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different events.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
His defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a decider.
The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, he secured the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
